IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – CORONAVIRUS / COVID19

IMPORTANT CLUB ANNOUNCMENT REGARDING CORONAVIRUS / COVID19

Date: Monday 16th March 2020
Time of release: 18:20
Updated following England Rugby advice: 19:32

Following this afternoon’s UK government advice asking that everyone stops non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel, it is with sadness, but without regret, that the club is announcing the temporary end to all rugby club related activity, effective immediately, for the foreseeable future.

This hold on activity means that the following training and fixtures will no longer take place.

Monday O2 Touch Training Sessions
Wednesday Rugby Union Training Sessions
Winnington Park 2 v 1XV (A) – 21 March
Wigan Warriors Pride Day – 22 March
Whitchurch v 1XV (A) – 28 March
Manchester 3 v 2XV (A) – 4 April
1XV (H) v Sefton 2XV – 4 April

Other likely fixtures and events that will not take place as planned include the following activities which will either be cancelled or rescheduled:

Spartans’ Easter Bash at Bar Pop – 9 April
1XV (H) Newcastle (Staff’s) – 18 April
1XV (H) St Edwards OBs 1 – 25 April
MVS attendance at the IGR North Finals Day – 25 April
MVS attendance at the IGR Final in Leeds – 9 May

The following events will likely either be postponed (with new dates to be advised in time) or cancelled:

Spartans AGM – 14 May
Spartans Annual Dinner – 30 May
Summer Draft O2 Touch Rugby Tournament – 6 June
Nat West Rugby Force Day – 20/21 June

Note: We shall no longer take bookings online for the Summer Draft Tournament until it is rescheduled and existing ticket holders shall be reimbursed this week.

Whilst this is sad news, we would like to assure all members and supporters that the Directors and Committee shall continue reviewing the situation and make additional announcements later in March regarding the resumption or rescheduling of any activities in April or other coming months and we will seek to communicate across our social media and other channels regularly.

We would ask, to protect the future of our club and maintain the brilliant team spirit and sense of family that being a Spartan provides, that we all keep in touch online via our social media channels throughout this period of restricted social movement. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Email if you need to during this period of isolation from your club and team mates.

Thank you for your understanding and please remember that working together now, we can beat Coronavirus and come back stronger as soon as possible.
